House for Hermit Crab – create own Hermit Crab – small groups to create a group habitat . Create a story about their habitat . Make collection of textures etc for backgrounds items in their Habitat. (printing , sponge painting. ) ( Also Mister Sea - life )
Collaborative wall story - in the style of Eric Carle.
-Read the Mixed up chameleon. Attention to different textures , patterns, colours that Eric Carle uses in his illustrations.
-In sketchbooks draw different creatures - group to choose creature for their page , One of group draws on large scale.
-In collaborative groups create sheets of textures/colours ( to use as creatures)
-Create 'printed' background - using sponge, card , forks, etc. Discuss how to make creature 'stand out - choice of background colour etc
-Class gallery walk - post - its - adjectives to describe different creatures .
-Class suggest names for creatures and vote for favourite.
- Using alliteration, group creates their piece of writing for their page of the book e.g. 'Flavia Flamingo flapping and floating through the flowery fishpond'
-Display as wall story.
