Taster Lesson on exploring different effects using paint .
Learning Intention : To EXPLORE the effects that are created by using paint in different ways.
Students will be given the materials on each station to explore the effects that can be made - How? What? Why?
DABBING, SPLATTERING and ROLLING.
You will need :- paper towel torn into ¼ , paint, roller, water. creating a pattern or splatter paint onto the paper
·Wet a roller with water and roller over the paper whilst the paint is still wet to create an interesting effect.
WAX RESIST. - paper, wax crayons, textured surfaces to create rubbings, a ‘wash’ of paint (watery paint)
· Create rubbings with wax crayons OR make your own pattern/design using wax crayons or a clear wax candle.
Choose 1,2 or 3 colours to wash over your paper (If there is too much paint on the paper, stroke it off with a paper towel.)
‘WET on WET’ (2 different effects )
You will need: paper, 3 colours of paint, pot of water, black ink,
Wet the paper under the tap . Brush the 3 colours across the bases of the paper (about ½ way up) – try not to ‘overwork’ the colours. Drop 1 drop of ink or paint onto the top ½ and blow it across the paper – watch what happens as it spreads.
·
MARBLING
· You will need: paper, a tray with water, oil paint mixed with thinner Drop the paint onto the water ( use a 'floater' to stop marbling ink sinking)
·Gently move the paint around to create a swirling pattern , Drop your paper onto the surface of the water.
·Gently make sure all the paper is touching the water surface. Lift the paper carefully.
Look at the wonderful effects you have created!
PAINT AND SALT
